The Rise of Google

As Google slowly but surely takes complete control over our lives, I'm happy to announce the podcast is now on a new format! Yes, TheHistoryOf Podcast has joined Google+. Here is a link if you want to join our circle, or however Google+ works.

In other news, I've got the logo for the next podcast finished, it'll be out sometime in 2012 and I'll post the logo when I announce what the new podcast will be, although I'm very excited about it.

Why I hate computers

Hello my fellow interneters. I am aware that some (well... all) of you have been having trouble downloading episodes 12 & 13. I thought that it must be some issue at iTunes, but I've now realised as usual I've mucked up. Basically, I used the '&' symbol in the coding, which for reasons I don't really understand makes it not work. The offending symbols have been removed and you should now be able to download and enjoy the episodes. Thanks to listener Gavin for being first on the scene.

Episode Four is re-released!

Hello there internet, Episode 4 of A History Of: Alexander the Great is out! Find it right here --> or on iTunes :)

Tuesday 9 August 2011

Episode 1 has been re-released

It can be found here, modifed it a bit + I've had to rename the podcast as A History Of: Alexander the Great. If you want to find it on iTunes (i've submited it)

Right, we have another problem.

I have been planing a youtube video showing you how to create your own free podcast, and when I was filming where to upload your XML file (the file that links all your sound files, pictures, and all that in one place and the thing you submit to iTunes) is changing. I had used Microsoft small business but this is changing to Microsoft 365, something which costs. So I've been looking for a new place to put the file, and have decided on using Yola, but this means having to place the XML in a different place on the internet. This means having a new feed, and the podcast in iTunes will stop working. I've requested to remove the podcast from iTunes, and will try and begin re-uploading the episodes in the next few days. I'm going to do it gradually, So expect episode 1 up in the next few days, with the others being released gradually afterwards and I may try recording bits of episodes to fix errors. So if you notice the podcast vanish on iTunes for a few days, that's why. Sorry about all this, I'm a bit annoyed too.

Problem = Fixed

Just re-recorded the second half of Episode 7, which somehow between me recording it and being exported from Audacity deleted itself. You can the new version here -->

Sunday 7 August 2011

Ooops, we have an even bigger huge mistake...

I'm really sorry guys, but I have made yet another mistake. Thanks to listener Mike for pointing out that there is no audio on the second half of episode 7, I'll work to fixing this in the next 24 hours. So very sorry.

Wednesday 13 July 2011

Ooops. We have a rather huge mistake here.

I'm sorry, there is a huge mistake in episode 7. Just looking at a map and I was suprised to see Tyre and Tripoli were separate cities, it turns out I completely misunderstood my information. Tyre, Sidon and Aradus never fused together to form one city, Tripoli was the centre of a confederation between Tyre, Sidon and Aradus. I'm really sorry for the mistake.

Episode Seven - Taking Tyre

Episode 7 - Taking Tyre, covers the siege of Tyre, find it here --> or on iTunes or another internet podcast directory such as podcast pickle, etc.

Website Update

Hey guys, we had a new feature to the website! For those of you who thought that 'TheHistoryOf' came in podcast form only were wrong. I've added to the website some links where you can download files relating to history. There are only 2 at the time of posting, but I should have some more up soon, including perhaps the best map of the Roman Empire in AD14 IN THE WORLD. Awesome, isn't it? I'm planning a re-design of the website too, hopefully it should make everything easier to find. This will include getting some of the Nationalism in Ireland podcasts on here too, then you can find TheHistoryOf all on one place on the web. Sweet.

Wednesday 16 February 2011

Hello and Welcome!

Hello there everyone in the internet, I am back from my break, and have returned to podcasting! First things first, I've decided to relocate from to blogger (as I hope you will have all noticed)! Second thing second, TheHistoryOf - Nationalism in Ireland is on hold temporally, possibily permanently. I am returned with a new podcast, this will be on Alexander the Great and I expect episode one to be realised sometime in the next week or two. To add to this new podcast, and new website, we have a new facebook page, a link can be found on the webpage, and we also have updated the twitter page, that link can also be found on the webpage too. So, let the podcasting begin!
